The Pastor
Pastor Ronald AKA “Rony” (pronounced Ronnie) Young was raised in Nottingham, MD and has resided in the Washington, DC Metro area since 1984. Despite a time when church and spiritual guidance wasn’t on his agenda, Pastor Young always felt the presence of the Lord in his life, but couldn’t recall being baptized as a child, and there were no documents of proof, so he dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized at Vermont Ave Baptist Church, NW Washington, DC in 1994. He was a member there until 1998. He then became a member of Ebenezer AME Church, Fort Washington, MD where he served as a member of the King’s Men Choir.
Pastor Young later joined East of Bethel Christian Center, Accokeek, MD in 2007 where he served in the Praise and Worship Ministry and was ordained as Minister in 2009 to serve in pastoral ministry. In 2012, he departed East of Bethel Christian Center due to relocating and became a member of Goshen United Methodist Church, Gaithersburg, MD to serve. He joined the leadership team at Goshen shortly after becoming a member, being voted in as a Certified Lay Servant and Associate Lay Leader.
Pastor Young is a graduate from Lancaster Bible College-Capital Seminary Graduate School, Greenbelt, MD campus with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies with Magna Cum Laude honors. He began serving again in pastoral ministry in July,2016 when he was appointed as Pastor at St. Luke United Methodist Church, Sykesville, MD. He stands firm on his beliefs of the Holy Bible and love for the Scripture passage:
Psalm 91: 14-16:
14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."
In his spare time, Pastor Young enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Shanita, his three adult children, and listening to Jazz, Contemporary Christian, Contemporary Gospel, and Gospel Hip-Hop.
